my pro kitchen set

We want to let you in on a secret. You can cook like a pro without spending a small fortune at one of those fancy stores in the mall. Ask any professional chef, and they will agree that no one needs a $200 fry pan, a 24-piece knife set, a mango slicer, or a bacon press shaped like a pig. None of it will make your food taste better or save you time in the kitchen.

All you need is a thoughtful selection of high-quality, no-frills kitchen essentials – the same stuff the pros use in their own restaurants and kitchens. That's where My Pro Kitchen comes in.

My Pro Kitchen is the affordable, all-in-one, professional kitchen set for everyday cooks. Our 36-piece set has every must-have item for a well equipped kitchen. It has all the cookware, cutlery, and utensils you need to cook almost anything. And did we mention that every piece included in our set comes from commercial restaurant suppliers? In other words, it's the same stuff chefs use, all at a fraction of what you would spend at one of those high-end “culinary” stores.

what’s in the set?

cook & bake

12 ½ inch nonstick aluminum fry pan
8 ½ inch nonstick aluminum fry pan

In our experience, one fry pan is usually all you need to handle most cooking tasks. However, every so often it helps to have a second smaller pan on hand. That's why we chose to include two pans in the My Pro Kitchen set. The 12 ½ inch pan is big enough to handle stir fry for four, up to four burgers, or an eight-serving frittata. The 8 ½ inch pan is perfect for smaller jobs like frying an egg or two, or sauteing onions and garlic.

Our fry pans are made of heavy duty aluminum, and feature an advanced nonstick coating. They also have silicone molded handles to keep your hands cool and comfortable.
Fry pans
8 ½ quart aluminum saucepan
2 ½ quart aluminum saucepan

Much like fry pans, we have found that most cooking tasks require no more than two saucepans – a large one and a smaller one. Our 8 ½ quart saucepan is perfect for boiling pasta, braising meat, cooking stews, and steaming vegetables. The 2 ½ quart saucepan is our go-to pan for pasta sauce, heating soup, and melting butter.

Our saucepans are made of professional grade aluminum. They also have silicone molded handles to keep your hands cool and comfortable.

Aluminum cover for the 8 ½ quart saucepan

The 8 ½ quart saucepan comes with an all-aluminum cover, which will also fit the 12 ½ inch fry pan. So you're really getting two lids in one, while saving precious space in the kitchen cabinet.

13 inch x 18 inch aluminum sheet pan

Our sheet pan (or “bun pan”, as it is known in the food biz) is made of heavy duty aluminum. Use it for roasting potatoes, broiling cheese bread, and baking cookies (and, of course, buns).

12 inch x 18 inch aluminum bake pan

Our professional bake pan is just right for roasting a chicken or baking lasagna. It has drop handles for easy handling, and is made of heavy duty aluminum.

chop, slice & peel

8 inch chef's knife

The 8 inch chef's knife is truly the workhorse of the kitchen. We use ours daily for almost every cutting, chopping, slicing, dicing, and mincing task. It has never let us down.

We are especially excited about this knife that we chose to include in the set. We have knives that cost $100 or more, and this knife is every bit as good. In fact, it is now the go-to knife in our kitchen. Just like those knives with fancy sounding German names, ours is made of forged stainless steel and has a full tang blade. It also has a triple-riveted black wood handle.

2 ½ inch paring knife

We almost never put down our chef's knife, but sometimes a smaller tool better fits the bill. For tasks like slicing garlic, we break out the paring knife. Our stainless steel paring knife has a look to match the 8-inch chef's knife, with a quality stainless steel blade and riveted black handle.

8 inch x 2 inch sharpening stone

Use this aluminum-oxide sharpening stone regularly to keep your knives razor sharp. [Click here for instructions on how to use a sharpening stone].
Knives
12 inch x 18 inch polycarbonate cutting board

Our cutting board is extra large and dishwasher safe. It has just the right density (i.e. “hardness”) to prevent your knife edges from dulling prematurely.

Vegetable peeler with carbon steel blade

There are a lot of fancy vegetable peelers out there, but if you want our opinion, those peelers are an answer to a question nobody is asking. So sure, you can spend $15 on a peeler, but it won't peel any better than this simple, timeless tool. My grandmother has one just like it – she's had it for 40 years.

Stainless steel box grater

Ah yes, the iconic box grater. We use ours all the time, mostly to grate cheese and zest citrus. But its four different grating surfaces make it a highly versatile tool.

Instant-read pocket thermometer

A must-have for checking the internal temperatures of roasts and other meat dishes. We also use ours when steaming milk. It has a 1 inch dial, a pocket clip, and a plastic storage sleeve. The temperature range is 0 degrees to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. [Note – thermometers are not dishwasher safe].

Stainless steel dough scraper

This is truly one of our favorite kitchen tools. We use it every day, especially to transfer chopped food from the cutting board to a prep bowl or the stove.

13 inch stainless steel pot fork

The pot fork is another essential kitchen tool. Use it to flip or remove food from the pan, carve, and serve. It has solid stainless steel prongs and a riveted, smooth wood handle.

9 inch stainless steel tongs

Tongs are another absolute must-have item. If I were stranded on a desert island (with a kitchen) and could choose only five kitchen tools to have with me, these tongs just might make the cut. I use them to flip, serve, and toss. They have a spring hinge and scalloped edges.
Steel tongs
10 inch stainless steel piano whip (whisk)

Whip, whisk . . . you say tomato. I've always called it a whisk, but what do I know? Whatever you call it, this durable tool will beat eggs, whip cream, and mix batter with ease.

4 ounce stainless steel ladle

This classic piece is great for serving and tasting (but don't double-dip!)
